Mangaluru International Airport conducts bomb threat mock exercise
Mangaluru, Dec 29, 2023: In a proactive measure to enhance security protocols, Mangaluru International Airport orchestrated its annual bomb threat mock exercise within its premises today.
The simulated scenario unfolded in the staff parking lot, serving as a comprehensive test of the airport’s security response system and its seamless coordination with a variety of stakeholders and agencies during crisis situations. The drill commenced at 1 pm and concluded precisely at 2 pm, with active participation from key airport stakeholders, including airlines, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and local police.

Independent observers strategically positioned across critical areas meticulously tracked the response time of various stakeholders involved. The CISF’s Airport Security Group (ASG), entrusted with maintaining airport security, adeptly neutralized the simulated threat. The bomb detection and disposal squad operated with clockwork precision, showcasing their professionalism.
“The primary objective of the exercise was to evaluate the alertness, efficiency, and preparedness of the airport staff. Such simulated exercises are integral to ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing safety measures, especially in situations posing a threat to the lives of passengers and employees. Through collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, the airport successfully executed the mock exercise without causing any inconvenience to passengers or disrupting airport operations,” stated the airport spokesperson.
