Karwar Gears Up for Inaugural Run of High-Speed Vande Bharat Express
Karwar, Dec 29, 2023: Karwar Railway Station is all set to extend a warm welcome to the Vande Bharat Express, traveling from Mangaluru to Madgaon, scheduled for December 30.
The train is slated to depart Mangaluru at 11 am on December 30, reaching Karwar railway station at 2.52 pm. Upon arrival, the train will be greeted with floral tributes and an array of cultural performances. MLA Satish Sail will ceremoniously flag off the train, which will then proceed to Madgaon.
On the inaugural day, more than 300 students have been granted free passes for a round trip from Karwar to Madgaon aboard this train, revealed B. S Nadage, Senior Regional Engineer at Konkan Railway.
With a speed over 120 km per hour and featuring eight coaches, the fully air-conditioned Vande Bharat Express boasts airline-style seats, executive chairs, and offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal options. The train is equipped with modern amenities such as onboard Wi-Fi, a reading light system, automatic doors, smoke alert systems, CCTVs, and more.
Operating six days a week, excluding Thursdays, the train will depart Mangaluru at 11 am, reaching Udupi at 12.25 pm, Karwar at 2.52 pm, and Madgaon at 4.40 pm. On its return journey the train will depart Madgaon at 5.10 pm, arrive in Karwar at 5.50 pm, Udupi at 8:10 pm, and finally, Mangaluru at 10.15 pm. Notably, there will be no stoppages en route, except for Karwar and Udupi.
