St. Mary’s College Organizes Insightful Workshop on ‘Statistics in Daily Life’
Shirva, Dec 14, 2023: The Department of Computer Science at St. Mary’s College, Shirva in collaboration with the IT Club and IQAC, hosted an enlightening workshop titled ‘Statistics in Daily Life’ today. The event aimed to shed light on the importance of statistics in day-to-day activities.
Juliana D’Souza, Lecturer in Statistics at St. Mary’s PU College, served as the resource person, engaging and interacting with the students.

Principal Dr Harold Ivan Monis, who presided over the program, praised the department and the IT Club for organizing such a meaningful event, emphasizing the practical applications of statistics in everyday life.
K. Praveen Kumar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Coordinator of the IT Club, highlighted the significance of statistics in the contemporary, data-driven world. He underscored the pervasive impact of statistics across various sectors in society, noting its evolution and expanded applications in recent years.
Lecturers Sandhya K, Anjali R Naik, Rashmi Acharya, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, and third-year BCA students attended the workshop.
Anup Nayak, Arun, and Alistair Sujoy D’Souza actively contributed to the session, while Manvitha and team offered prayers. Mohammed Saif Sharif, a third-year BCA student, welcomed the gathering, and Shamith Poojary delivered the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Mohammad Afridi.
