Mangalore, Dec 14, 2023: The Fred Olsen Cruise Lines vessel “MS BOLETTE” arrived today morning at 8 am in the port signalling the onset of second cruise season after the pandemic.

This Bahamas-flagged ship, with an impressive length of 238 meters, is carrying 704 passengers and 645 crew members. After making stops at Mumbai and Mormugao Port, the ship chose Mangalore as its next port of call, berthing alongside berth no.04.

Upon disembarking, the cruise passengers received a warm traditional welcome resonating with the beats of “Chenda” and the vibrancy of “Tiger Dance.” Eager tourists immersed themselves in the local art forms, capturing moments through photographs as souvenirs of their visit to Mangalore.

The port authorities ensured a seamless and enjoyable experience for the passengers, incorporating medical screenings, efficient immigration and customs counters, as well as providing buses and special taxis for convenient transportation within Mangalore City.

The International Cruise Lounge featured amenities such as a Selfie Stand, Meditation Centre by the Ministry of AYUSH, free WIFI, and a Virtual Reality Experience Zone by NMPA, offering a virtual journey showcasing the modern infrastructure and handling at New Mangalore.

Expressing hospitality, Dr. A. V. Ramana, NMPA, extended felicitations to the Master of the vessel in the august presence of Shri Mullai Muhilan M.P., IAS, District Commissioner, Dr. Anand K., IAS, CEO, Zilla Panchayat, Dakshina Kannada District, Shri K. G. Nath, Deputy Chairman, NMPA, and other senior officers of the Port. In a reciprocal gesture, the master presented the District Commissioner and the Chairman with a memento.

To entertain the passengers, the port organized a captivating Bharatanatyam performance, delighting travelers and providing picturesque moments for their photo collections.

During their visit, the passengers explored various tourist destinations, including the Karkala Gomateshwara Temple, the 1000 Pillar Temple at Moodabidri, Soans Farm, Achal Cashew Factory, Kadri Gokarnanatha Temple, St. Alloysius Chapel, and the local markets in the city. The ship bid farewell at 17:00 HRS, setting sail for its next destination, the Cochin port. Departing passengers carried cherished memories of a city that embraced them with open arms and showcased a vibrant cultural tapestry.
