Mangaluru, Dec 01, 2023: Expert PU College, Kodialbail conducted its Annual Sports Meet 2023 at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru, on November 30.

Mukund Kamath, proprietor of Ideal Ice Cream, Mangaluru was the chief guest for the inaugural function. Commending the college’s commitment to excellence and innovation, Kamath praised not only its academic achievements but also its holistic approach to student development.

The event unfolded with a vibrant showcase of sportsmanship and enthusiasm from both students and staff of Expert PU College. The proceedings commenced with the assembly of athletes, followed by the arrival of guests, including Chairman Prof Narendra L Nayak, Vice Chairperson Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, IT Head Ankush N Nayak, Keystone proprietor Deepika A Nayak, Yogarathna Gopalkrishna Delampady, and Principal Prof Ramachandra Bhat.

A spirited march past by batch-representing athletes preceded the college flag hoisting by Kamath. The atmosphere resonated with the college anthem, ‘Shrama Yeva Jayathe,’ and a symbolic release of balloons by the dignitaries marked the event’s spirit. Professor Ramachandra Bhat delivered the welcome address, highlighting the college’s accomplishments in both sports and academics.

The torch relay, carried out by outstanding athletes, symbolized the flame of glory and honor. Kamath officially declared the Sports Meet open, offering his best wishes to the participants. Upholding values of fair play, sportsmanship, and integrity, sports captain Shubham G Shetty conducted the oath-taking ceremony, engaging all athletes. The inaugural event was hosted by Zita D’Souza, HOD of the English Department.

The Expert Day Sports Meet 2023 became a cherished experience for students and staff, showcasing talent and enthusiasm in various sports and games. The event fostered camaraderie and teamwork, featuring fast-paced track events and engaging team activities. Champion boxer Karthik Puthran was the chief guest at the valedictory function. He motivated the students, emphasizing that their minds were already winners, requiring only body training.

Ujwal Pradeep, a lecturer from the Biology Department, led the valedictory program, culminating in the eagerly awaited Prize Distribution. Sohan Sathish Naik and Shaina Melora Rebello secured the overall individual championship for boys and girls, respectively, while the C2 batch clinched the overall championship.

Pramod Kini, HOD of the Hindi Department, delivered the vote of thanks.
