Udupi, October 27, 2023: Several banners, buntings, and cut-outs placed within the municipal limits of Udupi have been identified as expired. The municipal authorities have issued a directive for the immediate removal of such banners, emphasizing compliance with the Karnataka Municipal Act.

According to the Karnataka Municipal Act, prior permission from the municipal office is mandatory for the installation of such materials. The start date, expiry date, and permission letter number must be duly recorded. It is strictly prohibited to paste public posters on walls without proper authorization. A designated and authorized location must be identified before affixing any such posters.

Unauthorized posters affixed to walls and public spaces within the Udupi municipal limits will be promptly removed without prior notice, the Commissioner stated in a press statement.

He said that in order to preserve the aesthetic appeal of the city, the proliferation of posters in various locations should be curtailed. Small hoardings affixed to electric poles without proper authorization will also face removal.

The owners of banners and cut-outs are reminded to secure explicit permission from the Municipal Council. These promotional materials should be installed in designated areas and promptly dismantled once their allotted duration has lapsed.
