Pajaka Reverberates with Devotion: Celebrating Sri Madhva Jayanthi
Udupi, October 24, 2023: The serenity of Pajaka, the birthplace of Jagadguru Sri Madhvacharya, was enlivened with celebrations on Tuesday, marking the auspicious occasion of Sri Madhava Jayanthi.
Jagadguru Sri Madhvacharya, the revered proponent of Tattvavada, was born on the sacred day of Vijaya Dashami in the quaint village of Pajaka, nestled near Udupi.
Sri Madhvacharya, also known as Ananda Tirtha or Purna Prajna, was a prominent philosopher, theologian, and saint who lived around 13th century. He authored numerous philosophical works, commentaries, and hymns. Some of his most significant works include the “Brahma Sutras Bhashya,” “Bhagavad Gita Bhashya,” “Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya,” and the “Dashavathara Sthuti.”

Sri Madhvacharya’s teachings and philosophy have had a profound impact on the cultural, religious, and philosophical landscape of India, particularly in the southern regions.
At Pajaka, and in various other locations cherished by the followers of Madhvacharya, devotees commemorate Madhva Jayanthi with great fervor every year. The house that witnessed the birth of this luminary houses the venerated idol of Sri Anantha, the cherished Aradhana Murthy of the Madhvacharya family.
The festivities embraced a rich array of cultural and religious programs, infusing the air with spiritual vitality. Kaniyooru Matadhipati Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha Sripadaru offered special pooja to the sacred idol of Sri Madhvacharya. This idol was consecrated by Sri Vadijara Sripadaru of Sode Matha, about 500 years ago.

The celebrations witnessed an outpouring of devotion, as hundreds of ardent devotees congregated to partake in the festivities and receive the sacred prasadam. The event not only served as a commemoration but also as a vibrant affirmation of the enduring legacy of Jagadguru Sri Madhvacharya.
