Excitement Builds for State-level Under-14 Athletics Meet in Udupi
Udupi, October 01, 2023: The Mahatma Gandhi District Stadium in Ajjarkadu, Udupi city, is gearing up to host the State-level Under-14 Boys and Girls Athletics Meet from November 2 to 4. Udupi DC Dr K Vidya Kumari, presided over a preparatory meeting at her office on Saturday.
Over 3,000 young athletes from across the state will participate in this three-day extravaganza. The DC emphasized the importance of providing essential amenities like accommodation, food, transportation, and other necessary facilities for all participants and accompanying teachers well in advance to ensure a smooth experience.
To streamline the registration process, arrangements will be made at St. Cecilia’s High School for athletes arriving on November 2. Admit cards and relevant information for athletes representing different districts must be collected by November 1.
Given the size of the gathering, the district health department and the Municipality have been directed to oversee sanitation and drinking water provisions. Volunteers will be on hand to maintain order and ensure the well-being of the athletes, with the option to seek assistance from the police department if needed.
Vidya Kumari stressed the importance of community cooperation, in tandem with government support, to make this event a resounding success.
The meeting was attended by various officials, including Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H, DDPI Ganapathi, DDPU Maruthi, CMC Commissioner Rayappa, Assistant Director of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Roshan Kumar Shetty, and others.
