Mangaluru: Jal Jeevan Mission’s Second Phase Nears Completion
Mangaluru, September 21, 2023: The ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission, aimed at providing access to clean tap water to rural households, is making significant strides as the second phase of the project approaches completion within the next 7-8 months, according to Dr. Anandh, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat.
Dr. Anandh said this after chairing the district water and sanitation mission meeting convened at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium in the city today.
Under the comprehensive Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, a total of approximately 700 projects are underway across three distinct phases. Notably, all 458 projects in the first phase have been successfully executed, Dr. Anandh confirmed.
In the ongoing second phase, DK is host to 134 projects, of which 25 have been successfully concluded, while 109 remain in various stages of progress. Meanwhile, the third phase encompasses a total of 108 projects, with 10 already completed and 97 underway.
Raghunath, Executive Engineer at the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, and Kempe Gowda, Joint Director of the Agriculture Department, were among the distinguished officials present at the meeting.
