Expert PU College Celebrates Onam with a Vibrant Cultural Extravaganza
Mangaluru, Aug 25, 2023: The spirit of Onam came alive at Expert PU College as the institution immersed itself in the vibrant traditions of the Kerala harvest festival, celebrating with exuberance and cultural zest.
The event was a vivid tapestry of colors and customs, reverberating with the essence of welcoming King Mahabali and honoring the season of abundance.
The festivities were set in motion by Dr. Ushaprabha N Nayak, the vice chairperson of Expert Group of Institutions, who inaugurated the occasion by lighting the ceremonial lamp. This momentous act marked the commencement of the Onam merriments, symbolizing the illumination and prosperity that the festival embodies.
A highlight of the festivities was the captivating Pookkalam, a meticulously crafted floral arrangement that embodies the spirit of Onam. The resplendent colors and intricate design reflected the dedication and creativity of both students and staff who contributed to its creation. This vibrant Pookkalam stood as a living testament to the festival’s essence.
The college staff delivered a mesmerizing performance of the traditional dance form “Thiruvathirakkali.” Characterized by graceful movements and rhythmic steps, this dance, primarily performed by women, showcased the cultural heritage of Kerala and amplified the festive atmosphere.
The faculty, both teaching and non-teaching, embraced the traditional aura by donning classic attire. The teaching staff adorned elegant Kasavu sarees, while the male staff opted for the Kaili mundu, further enriching the cultural panorama of the event.
