Mangaluru, July 03, 2023: Gone are the days of crackling walkie-talkies echoing through the aviation security group (ASG) of CISF at Mangaluru International Airport. In a groundbreaking move, as July rolls in, the ASG personnel find themselves equipped with state-of-the-art communication kits, courtesy of the airport authorities. These cutting-edge kits ensure that all communication with the security operations control center (SOCC), manned by CISF, remains strictly confidential, on a need-to-know basis.

The avant-garde communication kits snugly nestle within the ears of ASG personnel, connected to their trusty walkie-talkies. This seamless integration guarantees that communication between the SOCC and on-field personnel transpires exclusively on a one-to-one basis, shrouded in utmost confidentiality. As an added benefit, this technological marvel liberates the hands of the personnel, hitherto burdened by the weight of walkie-talkies, granting them the freedom to wield their weapons swiftly during emergencies.

According to Virendra Mohan Joshi, the senior commandant and Chief Airport Security Officer, the communication kits herald a new era of wireless secrecy.

He stressed that they ensure wireless communication reaches only those individuals for whom it is intended. “Given the airport’s diverse range of stakeholders, security-related communication should be accessible to a select few,” explained Joshi.

The genius of these hands-free communication kits lies in their ability to enhance the ASG personnel’s operational readiness, propelling them to new heights of efficiency and effectiveness.

A total of 25 of these marvelously advanced communication kits have been provided to ASG personnel by the airport authorities, illustrating their unwavering commitment to fortifying airport security.

“This is in line with a series of measures taken by the airport authorities in ensuring that there is no compromise on the security of the airport,” the MIA spokesperson said. The airport in the past procured a bullet resistant vehicle for use by ASG personnel. “We are committed to meeting the requirements of the ASG personnel,” the spokesperson added.
