Manipal, June 20, 2023: Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), a constituent unit of MAHE, announced the launch of an innovative undergraduate program – the B.Tech. program in Computer Science and Financial Technology, a first-of-its-kind in India. The program aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the evolving fintech industry.

Commander (Dr) Anil Rana, the Director of MIT, expressed his enthusiasm about the program, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce the first-ever B.Tech. program in Computer Science and Financial Technology in India. MIT Manipal is dedicated to providing cutting-edge education that aligns with industry demands and equips students with practical experience to make them industry-ready.”

He emphasized that the program will cater to students interested in pursuing fintech careers by offering a comprehensive understanding of both fintech and technology, contributing to India’s emergence as a global fintech powerhouse.

Recognizing the immense potential in bridging the gap between computer science and finance, MIT Manipal has taken the initiative to launch this unique program, which has received approval from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The program’s curriculum is designed to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving fintech industry, providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the field.

Inspired by the rich banking history of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts in Karnataka, MIT Manipal remains committed to its legacy of pioneering advancements. The institute’s founder, the late Dr T. M. A Pai, a Padmashri awardee, played a significant role in designing the ‘pigmy deposit schemes’ as the founding father of Syndicate Bank, which laid the foundation for small-scale savings in India.

Prof. Yogesh Pai, the Professor & Head of the Department of Humanities & Management at MAHE, described the introduction of the B.Tech. program in Computer Science and Financial Technology at MIT Manipal as a significant milestone in the Indian education landscape. He expressed excitement about the opportunities this program will create for students and the transformative impact they will have on the industry.

With this pioneering program, MIT Manipal continues to set new benchmarks in education. The institution’s unwavering commitment to innovation, along with its strong industry partnerships, ensures that graduates of the B.Tech. program in Computer Science and Financial Technology will possess the skills and expertise required to excel in the dynamic fintech landscape.
