Blood Donation Takes Center Stage: Kasturba Hospital Organizes Training Program for Donor Motivators
Manipal, June 14, 2023: The Blood Centre of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, commemorated World Blood Donor Day by organizing an impactful training program for Blood Donor Motivators.
Shankar Naik, Assistant Drug Control Officer of Udupi, inaugurated the event and emphasized the criticality of blood donation.
“Despite remarkable advancements in science, there remains no substitute for blood except blood itself,” Naik emphasized, underscoring the need to create widespread awareness and foster a culture of regular blood donation.
Dr. Avinash Shetty, drew attention to the alarming gap between blood demand and supply in India, which hampers patients’ access to sufficient blood. Identifying increased blood donation as the solution to this pressing issue, Dr. Shetty called upon individuals to contribute more generously, thereby bridging the supply gap and ensuring adequate provisions for those in need.
A captivating poster design competition centered around the theme of blood donation added a creative dimension to the event.
Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Dean of Kasturba Medical College (KMC), distributed the prize to the winners. Dr. Shamee Shastri, Director of the Blood Centre at Kasturba Hospital Manipal, provided an insightful overview of the program.
