Fishermen Alerted to Adverse Weather Conditions along Karnataka Coast
Udupi, June 08, 2023: The fishing community is advised to exercise caution as squally weather is expected with wind speeds ranging from 40-45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph along and off the Karnataka Coasts over the next 24 hours.
The fishermen have been asked to avoid venturing into the sea during this period, according to IMD.
Inclement Sea Conditions Reported by INCOIS:
An alert has been issued by the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) regarding rough sea conditions along the coast of Karnataka, specifically from Mangalore to Karwar, until 23:30 hours (11.30 pm) on June 8, 2023. High waves measuring between 2.3 and 3.2 meters are anticipated during this time. Surface currents are expected to range between 37 and 54 cm/sec.
Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorm Warnings:
Valid until 8.30 am on June 9: Isolated areas across all districts of Coastal Karnataka may experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, with wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph.
Valid until 8.30 am on June 10: Similar weather conditions are expected on the second day, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph potentially occurring in isolated places across all districts of Coastal Karnataka.
Valid until 8.30 am on June 11: Isolated areas across all districts of Coastal Karnataka are likely to experience heavy rainfall, ranging from 64.5mm to 115.5mm. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected to occur in isolated places.
Valid until 8.30 am on June 12: Heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5mm to 115.5mm is anticipated in isolated places across all districts of Coastal Karnataka. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may also occur in isolated locations.
Valid until 8.30 am on June 13: Isolated places across all districts of Coastal Karnataka are expected to receive heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5mm to 115.5mm. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may occur in these areas.
