Kasturba Hospital Observes World Health Day with Health Check-Ups and Slogan Competition
Manipal, April 6, 2023: Kasturba Hospital Manipal celebrated World Health Day with a range of health awareness initiatives aimed at promoting good health practices and preventing non-communicable and lifestyle diseases.
Dr. Nagaratna, Udupi District Surveillance Officer, who was the chief guest, stated that Kasturba Hospital Manipal has always been at the forefront of promoting good health practices.
As part of the celebrations, a health awareness sculpture created by the Community Medicine Department team was unveiled.
“Every year on April 7th, people all over the world celebrate World Health Day, with the aim of promoting awareness about good health practices. This year’s focus is on the prevention of non-communicable and lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and kidney problems,” Dr. Nagaratna said.
The World Health Organization’s theme for 2023 is “Health to All,” and this year marks the organization’s 75th anniversary. To celebrate, Kasturba Hospital Manipal organized a free health check-up camp and street plays were performed to create health awareness among the public. Additionally, the hospital hosted a slogan writing competition on health awareness for its employees.
Dr. Padmaraj Hegde Dean, KMC, Dr. Avinash Shetty, Manipal, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr. Shiran Shetty, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ashwini Kumar, Professor & Head of Department of Community Medicine, Dr. Suba Sooriya, Head of Nursing Services, and the administrative team were present at the event.
More than 1000 people benefited from the free health check-up program, and the event was successful in highlighting the importance of maintaining good health practices and preventing non-communicable and lifestyle diseases.
