Srinivas University observes World Autism Day
Mangaluru, April 05, 2023: The Department of Clinical Psychology at Srinivas University in Mukka observed World Autism Day on April 4, 2023, with the theme “Light It Up Blue” as designated by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Dr. Mithun S, MD Psychiatrist from Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre was the Chief Guest. Prof. Naveen Bappanadu, Course Coordinator of Medical Laboratory Technology at IAHS was the guest of honour. Prof. Priyadhersini.S, Course Coordinator of the Department of Clinical Psychology was present.
The programme began with a prayer and a lamp lighting ceremony by the dignitaries. Dr. Mithun S, MD Psychiatrist, then addressed the gathering, discussing the importance of handling Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and creating awareness to manage people with ASD and their caretakers in everyday life.
The department also organized a short movie making competition on ASD as part of creating awareness, with movies made by B.Sc Clinical Psychology students displayed and judged by Dr. Mitun S. The event was attended by various department students and faculties of Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University.
The programme was organized by Priyadhersini.S, Department of Clinical Psychology, and faculties including Harshitha D, Ms. Asha N, Akshatha, and Nisha K R.
