DC Kurma Rao holds meeting for smooth conduct of SSLC exams in Udupi district
Udupi, March 24, 2023: The SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) exams for this year are scheduled to be held from March 31 to April 15.
Udupi district Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao held a preparatory meeting at VS Acharya Auditorium today and instructed the officials of the education department to take all necessary precautionary measures for the smooth conduct of the examinations.
The district has a total of 13,753 students appearing for the exams across 55 examination centers. Of the 13,753 students, 7,185 are boys and 6,568 are girls. The 55 examination centers include eight in Byndoor, nine in Kundapur, ten in Karkala, 12 in Brahmavar, and 16 in Udupi. CCTV cameras have been installed in all the centers.
To ensure the integrity of the exams, students, officers, and staff assigned for examination duty inside the examination centers are strictly prohibited from carrying any kind of electronic items, including smartwatches, mobile phones, etc. The Deputy Commissioner also asked the officials to deploy custodians, local vigilance, and mobile acquisition officers at the examination centers.
He asked the officials to ensure basic amenities such as toilet facility and drinking water will be provided to the student. Officials were asked to ensure the students arriving from rural areas do not face a shortage of buses to arrive on time.
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has made arrangements for free travel in regular and express buses for students appearing for the exam to go to the examination centers from their residence and return during the examination period. The students can show their hall ticket and avail this facility.
As a precautionary measure, the District Health and Family Welfare Officer has been instructed to deploy health personnel with first aid kits at all the examination centers. Videography will be made while receiving the question paper bundles from the treasury and opening them at the examination centers. The vehicles transporting the question paper and answer sheets will be provided proper security.
The DC said that strict action will be taken against those spreading any rumors that can confuse students and parents during the examination period. Section 144 has been imposed in the 200-meter radius of the examination centers, and instructions have been given for the strict closure of xerox shops in the vicinity.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of coordination among all officials assigned to the testing work, and the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Veena B. N, DDPI Ganapathy, Assistant Treasury Officer Rupashree, and SSLC District Nodal Officer for C Examination Cyprian Mentaro.
