Say bye to your blues, fly high with ‘Tarang 2023’
Manipal, March 03, 2023: On Sunday, March 5th, Manipal’s skies will be illuminated with an array of colors as the Volunteer Services Organization (VSO) of Manipal Academy of Higher Education hosts its 9th edition of Tarang, an annual kite flying festival at End Point.
But this year, the event has a special aim – to raise awareness about mental health issues among students and the public.
Under the theme “Say Bye to your Blues. Fly Kites of Happy Hues”, the event is set to be more than just a kite flying festival.
Tarang will be a carnival, an evening of celebration with a host of activities including stalls, games, street plays, music, dance and much more. People of all ages from Manipal and Udupi are invited to fly kites together, with a secondary aim of bringing the community together.
The entry to the festival is free for all, with kites and thread rolls available for Rs. 60.
The organizers hope to achieve much more than just a fun-filled evening. The event seeks to raise awareness about mental health issues, which are often stigmatized and overlooked in our society. By creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness, Tarang hopes to encourage people to open up and talk about their struggles, and to seek help and support when needed.
