Manipal, March 01, 2023: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) celebrated National Science Day at Fortune Inn Valley View in Manipal on February 28.

The event commemorated Sir CV Raman’s discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ on the same date in 1928 and highlighted the importance of science in everyday life.

Dr. P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University was the Chief Guest. Lt Gen (Dr) MD Venkatesh Vice-Chancellor, MAHE; Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Pro VC, Technology & Science, Dr Giridhar Kini, Registrar, MAHE along with HODs and HOIs were present.

In his address Dr. P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya emphasized the transformative power of science and urged students and researchers to have a malleable mind and possess passion, conviction, courage, and confidence in their actions.

Lt Gen (Dr) MD Venkatesh stressed the importance of inculcating a scientific attitude in every walk of life to bring significant development to society.

Dr. Yadapadithaya, Lt Gen (Dr) MD Venkatesh, Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Dr Giridhar Kini, and Dr Satish Rao presented prizes to the winners of various competitions held as part of the Science Day activities. The event served as an excellent platform for students to showcase their scientific skills and knowledge while imbibing the essence of scientific inquiry, exploration, and innovation.

Dr. Narayana Sabhahit welcomed the gathering, Dr. Bharath Prasad introduced the chief guest, and Dr. Giridhar Kini proposed the vote of thanks.

MAHE’s National Science Day celebration was a grand success, inspiring and motivating students to pursue their interest in science and explore its potential in solving real-world problems.

Over 25 educational institutions, including various schools and colleges, sent their students to represent the event.

MAHE has been conducting a range of events aimed at higher primary and high school children in the region for the last two decades. These activities include competitions like model building, drawing, and elocution, which are centered around specific themes. Furthermore, MAHE invites top-performing students from schools to participate in a week-long, hands-on science training program at the Manipal School of Life Sciences (MSLS). The program concludes with a science exhibition and Science Day festivities.
