Srinivas University hosts Yogotsava
Mangaluru, Feb 15, 2023: Srinivas University in collaboration with the central government’s Aayush Department Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga held a grand public mass yoga event – Amrita Yogotsava 75 at Srinivas University’s Mukka Campus on Feb 15.
The event served as a precursor to the First International Sanskrit Conference, which will also take place at the university’s Mukka Campus.
Dr K Raghavendra R. Pai, a world-renowned yoga master and Secretary of Mysore Sri Vedavyasa Yoga Pratisthan and Central Committee member of New Delhi’s Central Ayush Mantralaya Yoga Certificate Board, guided the Amrita Yogotsava.
In his presidential remark, Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, the Chancellor of Srinivas University and President of A Shama Rao Foundation, spoke about the importance of yoga for efficient concentration during studies. He expressed his gratitude to Dr K Raghavendra R. Pai for showing how uniquely yoga can be practiced. He also mentioned that the university plans to include yoga as a special subject in some of its degree courses in the coming years.
Dr A. Srinivas Rao, the Pro Chancellor of Srinivas University, spoke about the success of the program, encouraging everyone to practice yoga for at least half an hour every day. He suggested that such events should be held regularly, with the participation of a large number of people.
Among those present were A Vijayalaxmi R Rao, a Trustee member, Prof. Er. Smt. A Mithra S Rao, Vice chancellor Dr PS Aithal, Convenor of the program Gopal Acharya, Registrar Dr. Anil Kumar, Yoga Guru Musthafa, Corporator Shwetha Poojary, Director of Yoga Kuteera Dr Radhakrishna Shetty, and others.
The event was attended by locals, students, and faculty members of Srinivas University, who practiced yoga under the guidance of Dr K Raghavendra R. Pai. The gathering was welcomed by Registrar Dr Ajay Kumar, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Registrar Dr. Srinivas Mayya D. The event was compered by Prof Shrinath Rao K.
All participants of the Amrita Yogotsava were awarded certificates by Srinivas University.
