Manipal College of Health Professions observes World Respiratory Care Week 2022

- The week included a workshop RESPICARE 2022 on the theme “Essential skills for respiratory therapist in critical care”
Manipal Oct 31, 2022: The Department of Respiratory Therapy of Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), a constituent of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) conducted “World Respiratory Care Week” between Oct 13 and 22.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between MCHP, MAHE, and the Indian Association of Respiratory Care (IARC) on October 21 to enhance academics and research.
Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar, MAHE, Manipal was the Chief Guest, Dr. Jerry Paul, Professor of Anaesthesiology, AIMS Kochin and President of Indian Association of Respiratory Care was the Guest of honor.
Dr. G. Arun Maiya, Dean, MCHP, Pratibha Todur, Incharge HoD, Department of Respiratory Therapy, MCHP and Samruddha, Assistant professor and Organising Secretary of the event, Department of Respiratory Therapy, MCHP were present.
During the week, the department conducted CME and workshop “RESPICARE 2022” on the theme “Essential skills for respiratory therapist in critical care”.
About 200 delegates attended the event from Manipal and Mangaluru. The department also held its first alumni meet on campus on Oct 22.
“With the signing of the MoU, the World Respiratory Care Week celebrations this year marked the beginning of an important collaboration between Manipal College of Health Professions, MAHE, and the Indian Association of Respiratory Care (IARC). We are confident that this partnership will help in enhancing both academic opportunities and research for students and professionals in the field of respiratory care,” Dr. G. Arun Maiya, said.
“We were delighted to see the enthusiastic participation in the RESPICARE 2022 workshop and the vigor with which the students showcased their talents in various competitions held during the week,” he added.
The celebrations included various competitions like painting, collage making, poster presentation, cartooning competition, installation of 3D models, reels competition, Quiz, and Cultural events such as dance, songs, music, MIME, etc for the students of Respiratory Therapy.
The valedictory function was held on Oct 22 where the students were rewarded with prizes and certificates for the showcase of their talents.
