ICG Western Region Commander Manoj Vasant Baadkar meets DG-IGP Praveen Sood
Mangaluru, Oct 18, 2022: Inspector General Manoj Vasant Baadkar, Commander Coast Guard Region (West) called on Director General of Police, Karnataka Praveen Sood at Bengaluru.
He was accompanied by Commander Coast Guard Karnataka, Deputy Inspector General PK Mishra.
During the meeting, various topics were discussed primarily associated with the joint coordination of the Police and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with special emphasis on ensuring law and order in Territorial Seas in coordination with Coastal Security Police (CSP).
The Commander and DGP emphasized the need for having due harmonization amongst services for interception and averting any nefarious activities by Anti National Elements along the coastline. To ensure collaboration, the need was envisaged to facilitate the requisite training of Karnataka Police personnel by the Indian Coast Guard. The synergy would help in furtherance at the working level to foster jointmanship at all steps.
The DGP was briefed on ICG operations overall and in particular off the Karnataka coast.
The efficacy of ICG in ensuring coastal security as well as the role of state police machinery in monitoring fishing boat movement through CSP, Beat Patrol at beaches/fish landing points was also discussed during the meeting. The Commander reassured ICG’s commitment towards protecting and preserving the maritime interest on the coast of Karnataka.
