Manipal, Sept 29, 2022: Department of Cardiology, Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery and Community Medicine of Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal observed World Heart Day in a unique way through art sculpture and a free heart screening camp for the general public.

Abdul Ahad, Superintendent of Police, Coastal Security Police, Karnataka unveiled the Heart Health awareness sculpture.

“Many people are dependent on us in our family, untimely death causes a lot of trouble. Therefore we should maintain our heart and health by getting our heart checked from time to time,” he said.

Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao, Dean- KMC launched the Hearth Health Check Packages and stressed the importance of a healthy heart.

“On public request, we are introducing Special Cardiac Health Check Package at Rs 3000 and Advanced Cardiac Health Check Package at Rs 4000. People should make use of this,” Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent said.

Dr. Anand Venugopal, Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Shankar S K Police Inspector, CSP Malpe were present.

Dr. Ashwini Kumar, Head, Department of Community Medicine gave an overview on World Heart Day. Dr. Padmakumar Head, Department of Cardiology welcomed the gathering and gave an overview of Cardiac Health Check Packages. Dr. Ganesh Kamath, Head – Department of Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery delivered the vote of thanks. Srinath Manipal and Ravi Hirebettu prepared the sculpture using eco-friendly used materials.
As part of the program free diabetes, blood pressure, ECG, and consultation was held. Dr. Eshwari Achar compered the program.

Every year 29th September is observed as World Heart Day. The day is celebrated to spread awareness about cardiovascular disease which causes nearly half of all the non-communicable diseases in the world. The theme of World Heart Day 2022 is “Use Heart for Every Heart”.
