Manipal, July 22, 2022: Advanced Immuno Analyser Cobas e 801 was inaugurated at the Department of Bio-Chemistry Lab, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.

KMC Dean Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao, Manipal Teaching Hospitals Chief Operating Officer Dr. Anand Venugopal, and Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Avinash Shetty inaugurated the advanced machine at a simple function held in the Lab.

The advanced Cobas e 801 analytical unit by Roche Diagnostics India Pvt Ltd, is a high throughput immunochemistry module that performs a broad range of heterogeneous immunoassay tests using the highly innovative and patented Electro Chemi Luminescence (ECL) technology. Serum, urine, and plasma can be tested on this platform. The throughput of this analyzer is Up to 300 tests/hour.

The machine has an Automated cassette management system (ie. registration, internal transportation, placement, and disposal) and Automated unloading/reloading of reagent cassettes while in operation. The tests performed on this analyzer are Thyroid hormones, sex hormones, cardiac markers, tumor markers, pregnancy-related screening markers, etc which are of diagnostic significance. The average time required to process the sample in the analyzer is 20 mins.

Dr. Krishnananda Prabhu, Associate Dean, Dr. Bijoy Babu, Lead Business application, Gijo Joy, National Key Account Manager, and other officials from Roche India Pvt Ltd were present. Dr. Ravindra Maradi, Director, Kasturba Hospital Lab Services welcomed the gathering, and Dr. Varasshree, Head, Department of Biochemistry proposed the vote of thanks.
