 MAHE launches mobile clinic to serve people with mental illness

Manipal, Sept 20, 2022: MAHE Pro Chancellor Dr. H S Ballal launched a mobile clinic funded by Take Solutions Limited, Chennai, as a part of the CSR initiative.

The CSR project ‘M-ACT’ aims at keeping mentally challenged people to be in touch with healthcare providers, reducing hospital admissions, and improving outcome, especially social functioning, and quality of life.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. H S Ballal stressed the efforts by MAHE to make a positive difference in the life of the underprivileged people in society. “We will make a sustained effort to make this happen. MAHE’s vision of achieving excellence in healthcare is possible only through sustained partnership efforts. We thank Take Solutions for the funding and hope to have more such initiatives shortly,” he said.

Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh said that MAHE would ensure that the mentally challenged will get affordable and on-time access to appropriate medical care.

Dr. Ayaaz Hussain Khan, Managing Director, Ecron Acunova and Global Head, Generics, Navitas Life Sciences, (sister concerns of Take Solutions) was felicitated on the occasion.

Dr. Raviraja N S, Director, Corporate Relations, MAHE, said that the project funded by Take Solutions shoulders the responsibility to closely serve the mentally distressed people in the community with a humane touch.

Dr. PSVN Sharma, Professor, Dept of Psychiatry and the Principal Investigator of the project gave an overview of the project and explained how the community would benefit from this project.

Dr. Venkatraya Prabhu, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar; C G Muthana, Chief Operating Officer; Dr. Sharath Rao, Dean, KMC; Dr. Anand Venugopal, COO of MAHE Teaching hospitals and other officials of MAHE were present.
