 Ensure coordination while granting permission for Ganesha festival celebration: Udupi DC

Udupi, Aug 29, 2022: Udupi Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M has stressed the need for coordination between the departments while granting permission for the installation of the Ganesha idol and the ‘Visarjan program.

“There should not be any confusion and the revenue, local bodies and Police Departments should work in coordination while granting permission for the installation of Ganesh and visarjan program,” the DC said while speaking at a meeting at his office on Monday.

Before installing banners and flexes during the installation, ask the organizers concerned to take permission in this regard and check that there are no objectionable contents in them. While giving permission instruct them to print the license number and the due date on banners, flexes,” the DC said.

He asked the officials to give all permissions without any delay through a single window system.

Instructing the police department to provide adequate protection wherever required during the immersion of Ganesha idols, the DC asked the revenue and police officials to jointly inspect the necessary safety measures including proper lighting arrangements at the immersion site so that no accidents take place. He directed the officials to deploy local divers as a precautionary measure if required.

Instructing the ULBs, Tahsildars, and PDOs to give necessary permissions in their jurisdiction, the DC asked all the officials to work in coordination with each other.

District Superintendent of Police Hakay Akshay Machhindra instructed the people to strictly follow the instructions issued by the police department for peaceful Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. He also asked the people to abide by the Supreme Court’s order on the use of loudspeakers.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H, Kundapur Sub-Divisional Officer Raju, heads of all urban local bodies in the district, Tahsildars, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officers, and police officials were present at the meeting.
