DC instructs officials to hold road safety meeting every month
Mangaluru, Aug 24: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra KV has instructed officials to compulsorily conduct the District Level Road Safety Committee meeting every month.
He was speaking after presiding over the district-level road safety committee meeting at the circuit house in the city on Wednesday.
“The district-level road safety meeting should compulsorily be held every month. A nodal officer should be appointed. The decisions and discussions at the meeting should be uploaded on the website within 48 hours,” he said.
“In black spots, a signboard should be installed with information about the repair work. Motorists should be asked to move slowly in the stretch. The officials of the concerned department should take action to provide an audit report in case of a serious accident,” the DC said.
He directed the officials to conduct checking to verify the permits and conditions of school and college buses.
“The buses should have the name of the concerned schools and the telephone number of those to be contacted in case of rash and negligent driving. The Deputy Commissioner of Transport shall personally inspect the buses of schools and colleges,” he said.
The DC said that autos carrying school students should not have more than five children and warned strict action against the violators.
