Akshay Urja Diwas: MIT conducts solar lamp workshop for school students
Manipal Aug 22, 2022: Manipal Institute of Technology celebrated Akshay Urja Diwas on Aug 20.
As many as 400 students from government schools of Udupi and Brahmawar were sensitized about solar energy and also explained the consequences of climate change.
The workshop included hands-on training for school students to assemble solar lamps which were distributed to all the student participants along with school teachers.
N. K. Shivaraj (Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Udupi), Jahnavi (Education Officer, Udupi), Ashok Kamath (Block Education Officer, Udupi), Commander Dr. Anil Rana (Director, MIT), and Dr. Somashekara Bhat (Joint-Director, MIT) attended the program.
Dr. Naresh Kumar Mani, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Faculty coordinator (VSO), and several MIT student clubs organized this event.
Dr. Vijendra Prabhu of MIT’s Department of Biotechnology compered the program. Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dr. Sucheta Kolekar, Dr. Mohammad Zuber, and Mr. Manoj from MIT were also present.
