Mangaluru: Container train carrying polypropylene granules flagged off
This is a new stream of traffic handled by Railways from Mangaluru
Mangaluru, Aug 03, 2022: A freight train carrying 90 odd loaded containers comprising 1,872 tonnes of Polypropylene (PP) granules was flagged off at New Mangalore Port today. This freight train is destined to Khodiyar in Ahmedabad.
This is a new stream of traffic handled by Railways from Mangaluru and more such consignment movements are expected on a regular basis.
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, (MRPL), Container Corporation of India Limited, Southern Railway and Konkan Railway joined hands to make this a successful venture.
The PP granules sourced form Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, (MRPL) is a byproduct of petroleum refining and are the raw materials for processing different plastic based materials such as plastic bags, containers, cups etc.
Santhosh Kumar Jha, Director Operations and Commercial, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), B.H.V. Prasad, Executive Director ,Project, MRPL, K. Srinivasan, Group General Manager, Chennai Cluster, Container Corporation of India Limited, Deepak Prabhakar, Group General Manager, Marketing, B.B. Nikam – Regional Railway Manager, KRCL and Rajesh G.P. Station Manager Panambur were present.
