CM Bommai visits rain affected areas in Dakshina Kannada
Mangaluru, July 12, 2022: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai visited the flood affected places in Dakshina Kannada district today.
After touring Kodagu, Bommai visited the house that was affected by the recent earthquake at Sampaje in Sullia Taluk.
He handed over compensation to the kin of the three rubber tappers who died during a landslide at Panjikallu of Bantwal recently.
Later during his visit to sea erosion in Ullal, Bommai said that the State government along with the union government would formulate a long-term permanent solution for sea erosion in the coastal region.
Speaking to media persons at Ullala he said, sea erosion has been relentlessly affecting the shoreline of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada over the years. Last year about 800 meters of shoreline were eroded. This year 600 mts of shore land has been eroded. So we need to find a permanent solution for sea erosion.
“We have decided to use sea wave breaker technology to tackle sea erosion. We will see its effectiveness and decide on the next course of action,” Bommai said, assuring effective measures to stop sea erosion.
