Nalin chairs meeting on disaster management
Mangaluru, July 8, 2022: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel directed the officials to remove the structures that obstruct the flow of rainwater into the drains.
He was presiding over the district disaster management meeting held at the deputy commissioner’s office on July 8.
The MP directed the NHAI and PWD officials to immediately clear the obstructions that block the flow of water into the drains.
“Steps should be taken to avoid electrical accidents during the rainy season. Every Taluk should have a medical team that should reach the spot of any incident including natural calamity,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V said that 67 SDRF members and 20 from the NDRF are providing necessary help during the calamity.
“The officials concerned should compulsorily attend the district disaster management meeting and if they have to leave the headquarters, the permission of the deputy commissioner or the chief executive officer of the Zilla Panchayat should be obtained,” he said, adding that strict action will be taken against the violators under the Disaster Management Act.
City Police Commissioner Sasikumar, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kumar Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Sonawane, and Mangaluru City Corporation In-charge Commissioner Prashanth Mishra were present.
