15 houses damaged due to rain in Dakshina Kannada
Mangaluru, July 04, 2022: Heavy rain continued to lash the Taluks below the Western Ghats in Dakshina Kannada on Monday.
Due to heavy rain in the catchment area, the water level in Kumaradhara River increased, flooding the ‘Snana Ghatta’ at Kukke Subrahmanya.
Considering the intensity of rain, the Dakshina Kannada district administration declared a holiday for schools on Monday. The educational institutions in other Taluks were open.
Officials said that 3 houses were severely damaged (2 in Mangaluru and 1 in Belthangady) and 12 houses partially in the district. Meanwhile 71 electric poles, 1 transformer, and a 1.57 km supply line of Mescom have been damaged.
Belthangady Taluk recorded the highest rainfall in the district. The taluk recorded 98.4 mm.
