Landslip at Anmod Ghat

Karwar July 04, 2022: Heavy rain has caused landslip at Anmod Ghat in Goa – Karnataka border on Sunday night.

Due to the landslip, huge amount of mud and boulders are deposited on the National Highway. Traffic between Goa and districts like Dharwad, Vijayapura and Uttara Kannada has been affected.

Officials have started clearing the debris.

The Malnad and Taluks below the Ghats received heavy rains since Sunday.

With 105 mm rain, Sirsi recorded the highest rainfall in the district. Uttara Kannada district recorded 531.3 mm rain. The water level in the dams has also increased due to heavy rain in the catchment area.

Minor landslip was also witnessed at the Anshi Ghat section two days ago, the main connecting point between Karwar and Joida.

  • Siddapur: 50.6 mm
  • Joida: 25.8 mm
  • Yellapur: 17.4 mm
