Ten thousand people to perform yoga during Yogathon in Udupi
Udupi, July 01, 2022: Deputy Commissioner Kurmarao M said that 10,000 people would perform Yoga during the three-day Yogathon program.
Yogathon program will be organized at the district level on August 12, 13, and 14 to inculcate yoga as a part of daily life. Also to create awareness among the masses about the importance of yoga.
The DC was speaking after presiding over a preparatory meeting on organizing the Yogathon program in the district.
He said the main objective of the program is to train 10,000 people simultaneously for the Yogathon program in the district and make them good mental and physically healthy along with making yoga their daily activity.
He asked to identify a suitable place where the public can gather for the practice of yoga and take up all necessary infrastructure facilities there. He sought the cooperation of various voluntary organizations and urban local bodies to facilitate the participation of yoga institutes, students, and the general public.
He said that anybody can register to participate in this Yogathon program by logging into- [email protected]. People can also register offline at the venue of the event.
The cooperation of principals should be sought in colleges so that the youth can participate in the program in large numbers. Yoga teachers should be identified for imparting yoga training and transport arrangements should be made so that the participants can participate, he said.
Assistant Director, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty, District AYUSH Officer Dr. Satish Acharya, and officials of various departments were present.
