Kasturba Medical College organizes CME on Ophthalmology
Manipal, May 06, 2022: The Department of Ophthalmology, Kasturba Medical College Manipal in association with OEU MAHE Manipal under the aegis of Udupi Ophthalmic Society (UDOS) and Karnataka Ophthalmic Society (KOS) conducted a CME on Phaco Potpourri & Hands on WET LAB Practice on May 1.
The program was held at Dr. TMA Pai Auditorium Hall, KMC, Manipal. The CME was inaugurated by Dr. PLNG Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor (Medical & Dental Sciences) MAHE. Dr. Krishnananda Prabhu, Associate Dean, gave the welcome address and Dr. Krishna Prasad Kudlu, Vice President, Karnataka Ophthalmic Society, and Dr. Srinath Kamath, President, Udupi District Ophthalmic Society were the guest of honour.
Dr. Sulatha V Bhandary, Organizing Chairperson, HOD of Ophthalmology said that Phacoemulsification or Key hole cataract surgery is the current widely performed mode of cataract surgery.
The experts talked about on the difficult situations occurring during cataract surgery in the CME.
Eminent guest speakers used videos to demonstrate different techniques to guide the delegates through the nuances of Phacoemulsification.
The CME was attended by Ophthalmologists and postgraduate students.
Wet lab training was arranged for post graduate students to perform manual Small Incision Cataract surgery, Phacoemulsification and Intravitreal injections.
Dr. Sudha G Menon delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Aishwarya Kulkarni and Dr. Ashrith Kamath compered the program.
