Awareness campaign against Child Marriage to be held in Udupi
Udupi, March 4, 2022: An awareness campaign against Child Marriage will be held in the district from March 6 to 10.
Udupi district Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M told this at a meeting held at his office today.
“Five programs will be held at all the Hoblis for five days. Short film screening, pledge taking program, signature campaign, Human Chain formation will be held as part of the campaign. Opinions from the girls who were rescued from Child Marriage would be sought,” he said.
The program will be held concentrating on the places where migrant workers gather in large numbers. All local representatives would be asked to inform about the campaign. Members of Stri Shakti groups, NGOs, those who work for the implementation of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, officials assigned to prevent child marriage will participate.
The campaign will be launched at Udupi DC’s office at 9.30 am on March 6.
The meeting was attended by District Legal Service Authority Member Secretary Sharmila, Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Kiran Fadnekar, Deputy Director, Women and Child Development Department Sheshappa, Municipal Commissioner Udaya Shetty, District Labour Officer Kumar, DHO Dr. Nagbhushan Udupa, District News Officer Manjunath B and others were present.
