DC warns strict action against hospitals found refusing Covid patients
Udupi, Jan 07, 2022: Udupi Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M has warned strict action against the hospitals that deny admission to Covid patients.
“The hospitals registered under Ayushman Bharath should admit the Covid patients referred by the district administration. Strict action will be initiated against the hospitals that fail to fall in line,” he warned during a meeting with the heads of private hospitals today.
“All the hospitals should reserve all categories of beds to the Covid patients. If any hospital fails to admit Covid patient, then action will be initiated under KPME and Disaster Management Act,” he said.
The DC directed the hospitals to display the charges for all types of treatment including Covid treatment.
“There should not be an unnecessary delay while shifting a patient from one hospital to another. Before admitting the patient, a clear picture of ABRK should be provided,” he said.
“Every hospital should upload the ILI and SARI cases in the portal every day. The instruments and medical facilities in the hospitals should be checked and if there are any repair works needed, should be completed immediately. If there is any problem in the hospital, it should be solved by bringing to the notice of the district administration,” the DC said.
He asked the nodal officers of the hospitals to supervise the availability of beds and facilities.
Udupi ZP CEO Dr. Naveen Bhat, Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, DHO Dr. Nagabhushan Udupa, KPME Nodal officer Dr. Ramarao, District Covid Nodal officer Dr. Prashanath Bhat and other officials were present.
