Dialysis staff demand district administration to pay their pending salary
Karwar, Oct 11, 2021: They have treated the patients even during the Covid pandemic and lockdown but have not received salary for four months. While they are angry and want to protest, they have postponed it temporarily considering the problem the patients might face.
With no other go, the technicians, nurses and Group D workers of various Dialysis units of Uttara Kannada district came to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and expressed their helplessness and unhappiness before the Additional Deputy Commissioner today.
They had come from various Taluks of the district and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner asking to get their salaries paid at the earliest.
There are about 56 employees in the district who have not received their salary.
“We had delivered our duty during the Covid pandemic without fail. Even when there were no vehicles during lockdown we served the patients. But our payment has not been paid. We have families. Such delay will create a lot of problems,” Rashmi working at the Dialysis unit in Karwar hospital said.
“As per the agreement with the government, the BRS institute used to pay the salary of these people. The agreement has come to an end and the government had assured to pay the salary from August. But these employees have not received salary since four months,” Janashakthi Vedike president Madhav Nayak explained.
“Earlier the BRS institute used to pay ₹ 16,000 per month. The government has declared to pay ₹ 10,000, much lesser than the earlier pay. But that too has not been released,” he said.
“We have given one week time. If the government does not pay then we will come to streets,” he added.
