75th Independence Day Celebrations at St. Mary’s College
Shirva, Aug 15, 2021: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at St. Mary’s College, Shirva today.
The celebration was held by following Covid guidelines.
Chief Guest of the Programme Ranga, Administrative Support Staff of the college hoisted the flag. Dr. Herald Ivan Monis, the Principal, delivered the independence day message.
“The largest resource of the country is the young generation. By taking proper guidance and through hard work, Youth can contribute in the process of nation-building,” he said during his presidential address.
He advised the youth to extend their support and help society.
“On this day let us remember the sacrifices of our Soldiers, and the great freedom fighters. True Freedom Celebration means lending a helping hand without forgetting humanity,” he said.
NCC officer lieutenant, K Praveen Kumar, Senior Under Officer Bhat Ramdas Sathish, Junior Under Officers Pravitha V Acharya, Rion Rishi Alphonso, Company Sergeant Major Prathima, Company Quartermaster Raina Andrade helped in piloting and organizing the parade.
Rovers and Rangers Scout Leaders Prakasha and Sangeetha, NSS Unit Student leaders Akshay, Surekha, Apeksha, Rovers and Rangers Unit Student Leaders Franklin Mathias and Prathiksha, Teaching and Administrative Staff, officer’s of the various units were present.
Reema Lobo, Staff Secretary of the college welcomed the gathering, Premanaatha, NSS program officer proposed the vote of thanks, and Yashoda, Student Council Director, compered the program.
