Landslide: Shiradi Ghat closed
Passengers asked to take Charmadi, Sampaje or Bisile Ghat
Mangaluru, July 22, 2021: Vehicles have been diverted via Charmadi and Sampaje ghat after the Mangaluru-Bengaluru Highway (NH 75) was damaged due to landslide near Donigal in Hassan district today morning.
Police officials said the landslide took place early morning. After this, no vehicle is allowed to move on Shiradi Ghat.
Heavy vehicles have been asked to take Sampaje Ghat (NH 275) and light vehicles have been directed to move on Charmadi Ghat (NH 73).
Officials in Dakshina Kannada do not have a clear picture about the intensity of the mudslide. However vehicles will be allowed once the road is cleared.
Update: 9 pm
The district administration has decided to allow only passenger vehicles at Charmadi and Sampaje Ghat.
“In the interest of safety of public, shiradi ghat no traffic will be allowed at night time and in Charmadi ghat and Sampaje ghat only passenger vehicles will be permitted at night,” DK SP told reporters.
As the landslide has taken place at Hassan district limits, the decision on allowing passenger vehicles on Shiradi Ghat will be taken by the Hassan district administration.
Traffic density was high on Bisile Ghat today as most of the vehicles from Kukke and Dharmasthala side took this route.
