Mudslide on railway track near Mangaluru

Filed at 12.30 pm

Mangaluru, July 16, 2021: Incessant rain in Mangaluru and nearby areas has resulted in a mudslide on the railway track on Friday afternoon.

Sources said the mudslide happened around 10.40 am. Heaps of mud have fallen on the track at Kulashekara near Mangaluru. The place comes under the Palghat Division of Southern Railway.

It is situated between Thokur and Mangaluru Junction railway station. As a result, the train moving towards North from Mangaluru may be rescheduled or canceled.

As the clearance of track is likely to take some time, the Southern Railway and the Konkan Railway have to decide on cancellation or rescheduling of trains.

The Matsyagandha Express (02620) to Mumbai is scheduled to leave Mangaluru at 12.40 pm. Dadar-Tirunelveli is scheduled to reach Mangaluru at 2.05 pm. It has now crossed Udupi.
