Ban on ‘Jathre’ celebration: Minister Kota clarifies

Mangaluru, March 30, 2021: Within 24 hours of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner issuing an order banning Jathre celebrations in public and religious places, Endowment Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has issued a clarification.

“People have expressed concern over the ban order issued by the DC. I have asked him to clarify. I would like to tell that the Yakshagana, Kola, Nema, Poojas, and the traditional religious program can be conducted following COVID guidelines,” Kota Srinivas Poojary stated in a press statement.

“More than 500 people cannot gather in an open ground. Wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing is responsibility of the people,” he added.
