DC orders COVID testing for MIT-Manipal students

Udupi, March 18, 2021: With the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) campus reporting majority of COVID cases in the district, the Udupi DC has instructed officials to conduct COVID test to the 5,000 students on the campus.

Udupi DC G Jagadeesh, in a video message, said this today.

“The number of cases is increasing in the district since the beginning of this month. Of the total cases in the district, most of them are from the MIT campus in Manipal. We have already issued a seal down order as it has been declared containment zone,” the DC said.

“The health officials have also been told to conduct the test of 5,000 students there. We want to ensure that the virus does not spread to other parts. The shops and Malls in Manipal too should take necessary preventive measures,” he added.
