Program on Rain Water Harvesting at St Mary’s College
Shirva, March 04, 2021: India is the second country in the world with water abundance. But failure in proper usage and conversation has resulted in water shortage. Water conservation and re-use are the methods to prevent this shortage, ” said District Resource Person on Water Conservation Joseph G. M Rebello.
He gave a detailed presentation on water conservation and water recharge at the Rain Water Harvesting Program organized jointly by NCC, NSS, Rovers, and Rangers, Youth Red Cross units in collaboration with the college’s Parent-Teacher Association and the Green Teacher Forum at St. Mary’s College, Shirva.
Dr. Herald Ivan Monis, Principal of the college, who presided over the event stressed the need for Rain Water harvesting.
Jacintha D’Souza, President of the Parent-Teacher Association appreciated the initiative taken by the college.
Yashoda, Vittal Nayak, Lieutenant K Praveen Kumar, Premanath, Murali, and members of the various cells and associations were present. Teaching and non-teaching faculties, as well as students of different streams, attended the program.
Sristi welcomed the gathering and Deepthi proposed a vote of thanks. Yashoda, the coordinator of the Green Teacher Forum, introduced the Chief Guest and Resource Person to the gathering. Sowjanya compered the program.
