Udupi explores idea of floating restaurants

Udupi, Feb 12, 2021: In a move to boost tourism, Udupi district administration has decided to develop floating restaurants in the backwaters.

Udupi Deputy Commissioner that there were many backwater spots in the district where ‘floating restaurants,’ can be developed. He directed the officials to invite Expression of Interest from the private organizations and individuals and later call tender.

Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh presided over the Tourism Development Committee meeting on Friday.

“There is a good opportunity to develop tourism in the Udupi district. The waterfalls can be included in the tourist destination list. The tourism department can prepare a plan and develop the waterfalls by providing necessary safety measures and facilities,” he said.

ZP president Dinakar Babu, MLA Lalaji Mendon, ZP Member Shashikanth Padubidri, Tourism Department Assistant Director Somashekhar, and other officials were present at the meeting.
