 BJP MLAs want Mangaluru Airport to be named after Koti-Chennayya

Mangaluru, Dec 10, 2020: Elected representatives of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district led by Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary met Chief Minister today and submitted a memorandum to name Mangaluru International Airport after Koti-Chennayya.

Koti and Chennayya, are the legendary Tuluva twin heroes. Though various organisations and individuals have been suggesting names for Mangaluru airport for several years, naming received political color after the airport was taken over by Adani group last month.

Congress leaders led by Mithun Rai have been demanding to name the airport after Koti-Chennayya.

On BJP elected representatives including Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr. Bharath Shetty, U Rajesh Naik, Harish Poonja, Raghupathi Bhat, Sunil Kumar and Sanjeeva Matandoor submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

They asked the CM for cabinet approval to name the airport as Koti Chennayya airport and later recommend it to the Central government.
