Mayor inspects mutton stalls, warns strict action against violators
Mangaluru, Oct 14: Mangaluru Mayor Diwakar and his team inspected various mutton stalls in the City on October 14 morning.
It was a move to ensure that the mutton traders sold only mutton and did not conceal beef. Mayor felt the need for an inspection after the police seized beef from a milk van on Tuesday. Beef was hidden in the milk trays.
On the very next day, Mangaluru Mayor with officials and standing committee chairpersons- Poornima, Kiran Kumar, and senior corporator Sudhir Shetty went on a surprise visit to mutton stalls in the City Corporation limits.
They visited stalls at Urwastore, Urwa Market, and other places. They also visited the slaughter house at Kudroli and spoke to the people there. The Mayor asked the traders to follow rules and sell the meat for which they had received permission. He warned them to cancel the trade license if there were any violations.
