Udupi to get govt COVID testing facility shortly

Udupi, July 07: Udupi district is all set to have its COVID sample testing lab at the District Hospital premises in Udupi.
Once operational, the district will not have to send the samples to other districts for testing. Also, the test results would be available soon.
The modern lab with all facilities costs ₹1 crore including construction cost of ₹45 lakh. One microbiologist and 8 lab technicians are appointed. The microbiologist and two lab technicians have undergone training at NIMHANS- Bengaluru, says District Surgeon Dr Madhusoodana Nayak says.

The lab can test 96 samples at a time. It would take about 4-6 hours to test the samples. Thus in a day, the lab can test about 300 samples.
