Seven places in Dakshina Kannada district identified as Containment Zone
- Sajipanadu, Thokkotu, Uppinangady, Ajjavara, Thumbe, Sampya and Karaya as Containment Zone.
- Incident commanders have been appointed to supervise these zones.
Mangaluru, April 19: Taking a strict step to control COVID-19 in the district, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner has issued an order identifying seven places as Containment Zone.
The residence and the surrounding areas of the COVID-19 patients are identified as Containment Zone. Officials said that though many of these patients have been cured and sent home, the containment zone has been identified as per the new guidelines.
In an order issued on Sunday, the Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has declared Sajipanadu, Thokkotu, Uppinangady, Ajjavara, Thumbe, Sampya and Karaya as Containment Zone. Incident commanders have been appointed to supervise these zones.
The house and nearby area are considered as containment zone. The 1 km radius is considered the Intense buffer zone. In Urban areas, a 5 km radius and rural areas 7 km radius is considered as the buffer zone.
The movement of people is completely restricted in the containment zone. Nobody can enter or go out of the containment zone. Police would handle the situation as a curfew and issue pass for emergency works.
The Containment Zone will be completely sealed and all shops including milk, meat, medicines will be shut. People will not be allowed to come out of their houses and the incident commanders are given the responsibility to form teams to provide the necessary supplies and service to the people. All the supplies including ration have to be delivered at the doorstep.
A health outspot would be set up in the zone. The primary contacts would be sent to institutional quarantine and secondary and low-risk secondary contacts would be restricted to home quarantine.
Every day the health teams should visit 50 houses to study the health condition of the people.
