Mangaluru, April 18: Paracetamol based drugs will not be available in the medical stores without Doctor’s prescription in Dakshina Kannada district.

“To stop spreading COVID-19 pandemic all the retail chemists in Dakshina Kannada district are instructed not to dispense paracetamol based drugs (both prescriptive and OTC) for symptoms like cough, cold, fever, tiredness, difficulties in breathing without Doctor’s prescription,” the Deputy Drug Controller, Regional office Mangaluru stated in a press communique.

In case of dispensing paracetamol based drugs against the prescription, they have been asked to record all the details like name of the patient, doctor’s name, address and mobile number in cash bill.

“If anybody is not following the instructions, stringent action may be taken under Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. Any suspicious cases like cough, cold, fever, tiredness, difficulties in breathing should be intimated to the Health and Family Welfare Department,” he stated.
